FIND YOUR SCENIUS

Surprisingly, there is no such thing like lone genius.

In fact, these are people who supporting each other, looking at each other’s work, copying from each other, stealing ideas, and contributing ideas.

It is such a relief knowing that genius people actually was supported by others too. For example, maybe it was his/her family who support with good education etc. But what’s more interesting is the term of scenius, it is my first time know that term. So, scenius is like a whole scene, maybe a community, a network or system consists of other people who lift each other up, and other positive things previously described.

It is not about how smart or talented you are, but about what you have to contribute-the ideas you share, the quality of connections you made and the conversations you start.

I always a believer that collaboration is one of the key to be success, as a person or as a organization, it can be in workplace or in family too. No matter how smart you are, if you can’t collaborate with others, can’t support each other, or can’t share your ideas with others, I think it is bad for organization, especially in long term. For example, when you are “smartest” person in organization who build an information system in your organization, but you build it with your own assumption without asking the colleagues what they want, or not researching what customer needs, the system in the end will not sustain for a long time. And what is the point of that?

BE AN AMATEUR

Amateurs are not afraid to make mistakes or look ridiculous in public. Amateurs know that contributing something is better than contributing nothing.

I am an amateur. It’s okay to making mistakes, it’s okay to looks bad, as long as you are contributing. For organization, even for yourself too! I always have a conversation, not a formal meeting, but small talk with my colleagues about what can we fix in our organization and sharing the solution, sharing the idea to each other. The idea maybe not fit with the organization, or the idea maybe too perfect, and it’s okay. The conversation itself is our contribution to organization.

FIND YOUR VOICE

We all have the opportunity to use our voices, to have our say, but some of us are wasting it.

It’s deep honestly. I am looking back to my past of myself, which is a quiet person, afraid to share the ideas, afraid to have an argument with others, and afraid to try something new. It was aggravated with situation in my workplace, when I am not doing anything useful. I suffered anxiety everytime I went to my workplace.
It was life on campus that opened my mind. After graduating and go back to my workplace, I was trying to “What can I do for my organization?”. I know there is a lot of possibilites of technology out there, but my organization is just like left behind, I want my organization take part of this era of technology too. I took many conversations with my colleagues, although mostly I got rejected, it is okay. I use my voice to give a contribution to my organization.

READ OBITUARIES

I’m not going to sit here and wait for things to happen, I’m going to make them happen, and if people think I’m an idiot I don’t care.

Life is temporary. What can we contribute to the others before we die?
I am 31 years this year, with the assumption human lifespan is 70 years old, I have 39 years left to contribute. For me is to start simple, like writing everyday, doesn’t care who will read but always believe our writing will be leveraging for others who need it.
